Culture Influenced by Religion

For many in Southwest Asia, religion is a key factor in their lives in which their daily activities are based according to their religion. By doing so, they incorporate their religious teachings into their daily lives or culture. For example, the culture of Muslims are based  heavily on their Islam religion, which can be noticed through their cuisine and clothing as such.

Because their god, Allah, stated in the Qur'an/ Koran, the sacred text of Islam,  that he forbids them from consuming pork, it's completely normal for Muslims to exclude pork from their meals. Muslim women often wear a scarf or veil to cover their heads, hair, and sometimes faces due to the belief that the covering of the body is pleasing to God. A typical day for Muslim usually consists of them praying 5 times per day [in the direction of the holy city of Mecca] as a reminder of their religion as well as thanking their god. Although some of these practices may raise some eyebrows due to the difference with their own culture, these are nothing out of the ordinary for Muslims, for they have been taught and grown up with this type of lifestyle.

"Drug Smugglers go to Great Lengths to Hide Stashes"

It's amazing how creative drug smugglers are getting these days. From paintings, to birthday cards, and even yams that have been super-glued back together, it clearly shows that the drug smugglers are stepping-out-of-the-box to come up with new ways to transport their 'goods'. However, even with these new ideas, drug smugglers are still unable to fool and, in the end, busted by the UK Border Agency.

As stated in the article, the criminals are ready to invest large amounts of money to pay for better ways to smuggle the drugs.It's interesting to see how far greed has driven these people to ruin others' as well as their own lives, all for the sake of the profits. Surely they can make better use of their money- sadly, they just choose not to. ];
